On Thursday, May 21, KUMEKO signed an agreement to acquire the entire share capital of Ecoports Finland Oy and will merge the company with KUMEKO Group’s port operations business. Founded in 1994, Ecoports Finland Oy is a port operator serving customers handling various bulk, break bulk, and project cargoes at the Port of Eurajoki. The merger will create a strong, competitive, and innovative port operator capable of meeting the growing needs of export trade and logistics.

The objective of the acquisition is to support KUMEKO Group’s logistics goals and long-term growth strategy. In the future, KUMEKO will operate not only in the Port of Mäntyluoto in Pori, but also in the private port of Eurajoki. Cargo volumes at the Port of Eurajoki have increased significantly in recent years.

“Logistics is a stable and growing industry whose importance will continue to increase. The Port of Eurajoki is geographically in an excellent location, so this acquisition and the operations it brings complement our existing activities very well,” says Niilo Peltomäki, CEO of KUMEKO’s port operations company.

KUMEKO’s port operations company, Aava Shipping Oy, has operated at the Port of Mäntyluoto in Pori since 2020, introducing updated solutions, entirely new traffic flows, and employment opportunities to the region through its operations.

“Strategic acquisitions are part of KUMEKO’s growth strategy. Overall, our operations are expanding, which will also increase our employment impact. Going forward, we will be able to provide our customers and stakeholders with even more capable solutions. We are renewing the maritime logistics industry with flexible solutions.”

Ecoports employees will continue in the company as existing employees. Ecoports’ current management will remain with the company during the transition period. Operations will continue without interruption.

The acquired company’s operations include vessel loading and unloading, as well as storage of products at the port. The company also provides ship agency services. In 2025, the company’s revenue amounted to EUR 1.4 million. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
